ssh is a protocol that allows secure remote login from one computer to another. simply if you have two computers called client and server, you can sit at client and type: ssh server you will be asked for a password and then you are logged in to server, able to do anything you could do if you were sitting at a screen and keyboard plugged in to server (well 3d games don't go well, but it will do secure X sessions) I think the previous poster was intending you to be able to administer the server over ssh without needing a monitor and keyboard attached to it. You can do installs of some distros over ssh (gentoo for example) but I don't think thats what was being referred to. Theres far more to ssh than just logging in, and theres a clug wiki page too! http://clug.inode.co.nz/index.php/ssh > > I will Google some info on this in the meantime. > > Woodsey > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Steve Holdoway" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Friday, January 21, 2005 9:03 PM > Subject: Re: SuSE 9.2 disks > > > If it's primitive hardware, then I recommend that you go with a text based > > debian image.
