Reminded of a Jasper Carrott story ... whilst driving in America, was pulled over by the Police. Presented his UK driving license (old style, i.e. a large fold-out paper sheet with lots of space for details of "problems") ...


"Wow Sir, you must be a pretty good driver. It says here that you've been endorsed *three* times"

Luckily the technical jargon of "endorsed" didn't mean the same thing on opposite sides of the Pond.
