I'd highly recommend you check out Debian, and perhaps Ubuntu. Debian is definitely stable [you only have to look at the current (non) release process for that], and very competent when it comes to updating their packages for security holes. I'd definitely have Debian on the server. Ubuntu is definitely worth a look, especially on the desktop. They're not going to be flash when it comes from a sys admin point of view - there's nothing like the Red Hat tools, or SuSE's YaST. Nothing that a good sys admin couldn't handle though ;) FWIW, Glynn
