thanks to all cluggers for the replys on this post as I'm trying to avoid my 
previous experiences of buying hardware and then finding out that it's not 
properly supported in linux

sorry if my post wasn't all that clear but:-

I'm not running a network here at the moment and probably won't be in the 
forseeable future

what I was wondering was what suitable cable (would I need to get/buy - if 
any) to connect up at the next (gentoo) installfest??
