hyperbole at best, its a matter of opinion. I don't think we need or want a distro flame war thanks! Also the ability to sort one small thing like the ability to run a projector is not sufficient to base your whole distro choice on. if you have your projector working on one distro, it should be fairly easy on another. I suggest the following: take the xorg.conf file that works and transfer it to the other distro. use mv to back up the existing one and cp to copy the new one. yes you will transgress and screw up things like sax2 on suse that rely on users not mucking about with the config file, just avoid letting sax near it again. xfree and xorg are supposed to have interchangeable config files, and xorg will even use XF86config if there is no xorg.conf file. However I have seen comments that there _are_ some fairly subtle things that are not fully interchangeable. YMMV. However you certainly do need to be consistent. Always plug in and turn on the projector first, or always don't. The experiments are useless ottherwise. I suspect there is truth in saying things are more likely to work if it is plugged in and going at switch on. Hell it may even need a cold start (ie power down and power up again) rather than a reboot, who knows. Remove room for there being two variables at play. -- Nick Rout
