IIRC you didn't succeed in changing the refresh rate. After you left I changed the desktop size to 1024 x 768 (down from 1280 x 720) which brought the refresh rate up to 85hz. Perhaps that is what did it. The other issue is the NVidia drivers. I think I selected to update them when I loaded the updates to 9.3 from the CD.

There is also the possibility that I have faulty hardware. I was until a little while ago (he shamefully admits) overclocking the CPU through the FSB with an increase in voltage to 1.74 volts. There may be some issues there now. It is running at rated speed now.

Hopefully both platforms are stable now, but I booted into Susehalf an hour ago and it didn't detect my (USB) mouse.
