I'm having dreadful trouble Nick, and as Volker suggested, it might be down to intermittent hardware failures. I have re-installed the Seattle-based operating system yet again without applying certain things (I won't bore you) and I'll let it run for a while, see if it's stable (ie: no hanging on boot), then I will repair the boot loader for Suse. I want to do one thing at a time to see if I can nail the problem.
Last night I could connect in Suse using the konsole to start the usb modem. It would only go halfway through the setup process and then fail. I am due to receive an old Nokia adsl router I got on Trademe for $27 in the next few days which will (I hope to g*d) make connecting from Suse much easier. Until then I will run this pita os. Once I get reliably connected with Suse I won't be needing windows until I get a better video card and a copy of bill's flightsim so I might just delete the windows partition from my drive :-) My change to Linux won't happen overnight - but it will happen. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nick Rout" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, May 19, 2005 12:57 PM Subject: Re: mail clients, WAS a laugh > Deane - still using windows? tsk tsk. > > I should have put those settings into kmail for you and removed windows > from the boot choices :) > > > On Thu, 19 May 2005 12:53:09 +1200 > Deane Foreman wrote: > > > "Microsoft employees should indicate this clearly in order to receive > > priority processing" > > > > Nice. > > > >
