Mepis does most of this out of the box. It's KDE based, which I like, and specifically for one of your points Konqueror is a great graphical ftp client. Mepis is really Debian underneath, so you can apt-get most other apps you might want. I have it running on an IBM ThinkPad 600e and I'm quite pleased with it. HTH, A
