Thanks for those replies.
Volker's offer of CDs is very tempting, if we could make the transaction work, I could spend fathers day installing Suse! I must say I am VERY pleased with Suse 9.3 at work. It connects to our windows lan flawlessly. I have terminal services access to various windows boxes when I need it. Firefox connects me nicely (with limitations such as not being able to upload attachments) to MS sharepoint. I run Oracle Forms in firefox, thunderbird connects nicely to exchange and an LDAP address book. Novell OpenOffice gives me doc, ppt and excel compatibility, and Acrobat 7.03 works a treat. I do ssh to various other linux boxes in the states, VNC to another oracle server. Samba shares my files and lets me get to windows shares across the wan, network printing just works too. I run Oracle JDeveloper for web dev... My desktop is KDE, never could figure out why those gnome chaps started up in the first place. The lads at QT seem to make a very nice product. I'm pretty happy. I haven't yet figured out how to get a calendar from exchange going though, I've already missed one meeting... I've heard rumours about Evolution or possibly Kontact doing the necessary, but I got stumped at the groupware wizard. And I do miss having an email notification - thunderbird doesn't seem to have one on linux... Dale
