This is a misleading statement. Better would be "the overall computer
operating system and applications learning curve remains somewhat
steep". This is why installfests still have their place.

Be honest, it took you a long time to assemble your current
Microsoft-related knowledge. Invest the same time into Linux, then make
more statements :)))

True. However, I doubt all that driver stuff being shipped on CDs
accompanying various cards which you have bought in the shop always
work, judging by reports I keep on hearing. In principle you're right
with hardware compatibility problems though.
