Oh there are some really nifty and very small notebooks around. Trouble
is finding one which costs less than many thousand $$... I was hoping
to restrict myself to 3 digits, DVD burner, big screen, fast CPU, bla
bla <nice things to have in a top-notch computer> are all unnecessary
for the job at hand.

I could live with the separate keyboard, as that has the advantage of
not needing a second keyboard for some more serious work.

Yep, not terribly small or terribly light, otherwise standard notebook,
ie I don't have the 3 legs they cost... :(

Btw Textmaker  http://www.softmaker.de/tm.htm is available for Linux and
Sharp Zaurus, as well as wince-based PDAs (ok so that's no use). But the
Zaurus were pulled from the Oz market for negligable sales volume some
while back.
