Thanks Hugo, looks interesting, but I don't think it's quite it. IIRC
someone managed to install his own $linuxdistro, and it had an external
keyboard and monitor plugged in, though I may be wrong on that. It was
larger than a PDA.

You can plug a a monitor into a small PCMCIA-card which you plug into
a small PCMCIA-to-CF-converter which you can plug into a Zaurus...
