Not really an option.  I am going to buy an ex-lease clone machine,
something like a P4 at 1.5 GHz and replace the guts.

...how much for the Adaptec 29320 I've got in my hand, or the compaq branded
aha-39600 ( which failed to update it's firmware, probably leaving it
b*ggered )  (:

SCSI - much more reliable for the man with bottomless packets! Personally,
I'd go SATA, although I do know Craig probably doesn't have this option.
