put it this way I've never seen one .. and I've been emailing since a long time before the "net" ..

so yeah "yes" for some local email services .. but no for external email services.

I've checked with some "guru" types on this and the answer is categorically NO
valid = a-z, A-Z, 0-9, -_  thats it
