It looks like a kernel command line option to me, but I don't know video=. Obviously no good to you unless you have a readeon card. Kernel command line options can be supplied bia lilo or grub menues, or hardcoded into the bootloader (via menu.lst in grub). Just add them to those which are already in your distro. You can see the options of the currently running kernel by looking at /proc/cmdline. > >>XGA @ 60 70 75 85 89 Hz > But is there a frequency in that range that you can use? Sure, 60Hz. One has to remember though to reconfigure the graphics system, only the insane (or soon to be) run CRTs on as low as 60Hz. Of course for LCDs is doesn't matter, they're so dog slow everything's a blur anyway. > And can Barry please tell us what frequency his display is set to? - > Because that was 'plug & play' @1024x768. Run xvidtune and read it off. > I've seen no change from setting this value within grub, either > > defoptions=vga=791 or 793. Maybe I'll try just vga= next. defoptions has to do with the boot loader but I don't know it. It's possible the boot scripts change the console resolution again?
