Who cares what the sender is up to? There's still people on dialup here,
that he doesn't give a jot for.
Let's get people off dialup to start with.
I care enough about the whole issue that I spent the time to do some
research into the issue and present it for discussion.
I back the Nick/geek view, that simple is good. Text is enough (Word
Processor? - what for?).
So do I.
I also support the view that software should work for the user/s.
In this case there are 2 clients and 1 server.
It stuck me that neither clients nore server were looking after the
interests of the user/s.
I raised the issue on this list because I don't know how to deliver
automated solutions on this platform.
I can do it on other platforms.
Here's another reason:
When this thread broke out I was on webmail, which I frequently do to
ping the spam before POP takes the time to retrieve it (reducing said
time). How to I know what is spam to delete? Tricky. But the surest
guide is the scrawny little paper clip icon alongside. Funny that - how
apt!: "What do you want me to do today?"
You make a very good point.
If you make the assumption that anything with an attachment might be
spam then you just lost all the messages from a valid user if they're
including their contact details in the forum of a vcard (an industry
standard).
Easy. BUGGER OFF TROLL!
Again you highlight one of my issues with this technology.
You've decided that a user is not one you're interested in hearing from.
An obvious server technology would be that the you are able to tell
the server who you don't want traffic from.
We have to ask why this issue is so important to this particular user.
His convenience is not ours. Quite the opposite in fact.
I'm sorry, I thought I made that clear.
Software should deliver convenience to all of us. Personally I'm a
fairly curtious user, but sometimes I forget to select the right options
in my mail reader.
Some users have expressed that they really don't care... while others
care on principle and others care because it has impact on their own
systems.
This thread wasn't meant to be about my my convenience, it was meant to
be about intelegent systems.... something that seems to be lacking at
present when the only response on the issue seems to be emotive.
Cheers Don
