I have to agree with the 2.6.17 suggestion... On installing 2.6.17.6, my laptop started working a whole lot better.... speedstep started working, my suspend stuff did something other than die, and my atheros NIC associates and gets a dhcp lease in ~2-3 seconds, compared with 60-90-notatall seconds earlier.
I'd recommend trying 2.6.17 just to see what happens.
