Thanks Craig,

See: http://www.bowenvale.co.nz/dmesg.txt

I'm sorry, I still don't quite understand how to upgrade the kernel
within ubuntu.

Thou the installer has now done it 4 times as I have a choice.

Does anyone know if I can just 'apt-get' it or do I have to follow
instructions at kernel.org?

Yes, yes, I know 'google is my friend' problem is that I'm finding more
advise than I can deal with, and I'm not sure which is the best way to
go in most cases.

Cheers Don
