Ok, fresh head this morning... I did post the error that went to the command line... However, it's occurred to me that you want dmesg? # man dmesg "Humm.... wonder what options Nick wants me to drive?... # dmesg -n 1 ?" All, Quick thought... thanks to every one who's suggested a distro change is the best option... In this instance I've decided it's not. So far I've learnt more about how the update system works, more about the kernel, I've read the man page for dmesg and realised what it is and a bit about why Nick always uses it. I would like to focus on getting this problem fixed. Once I've done that, then I would like to change the distro to compare, at that point I would like to learn how to make my machine dual boot into different distros at the same time... I understand that you put the /home on a different pat, I just haven't done it for my self yet. Nick, If I'm driving you nuts on a night, and I do appreciate just how much help you try to give, go have a beer... it might not be free, but it will make you feel happier :) Cheers Don -- Don Gould www.thinkdesignprint.co.nz - www.tcn.bowenvale.co.nz - www.bowenvale.co.nz - SkypeMe: ThinkDesignPrint
