I always really liked Archlinux's init sequence... loosely based on BSD I believe and it's so fast!!

I'm not all that surprised that the boot up process is a similar speed as they are only at stage one, which is init emulation and using all the original init scripts. I imagine it'll see some difference one the new event based init is being used.
