I could try ssh from my pc at home when i get there, (in class atm)
I'm not too sure how to do this so I'd have to do some research - I'm
fairly new to linux and haven't dabbled too far yet...
Tried using terminal interface and resetting X as you suggeeted - no
go, still the same issue
