Thanks Chris,

I have actually found a lot of relevant information, but I was wondering if
anyone here had actually done it. For example, I have just opened the case
and removed the CPU (because you have to do that to remove the mainboard to
access the EEPROM). However, the information I read about that was
incorrect, or incorrect for my board. When I removed the CPU the EEPROM
was visible on the top side of the board, so I don't need to access the
underside. Now I have soldered three wires to the EEPROM and I am about to
hook it up to a serial port and use some funky software to extract the data
(Windows only, it seems). Again, someone could have told me to be careful
that the traces on the PCB don't come off when they get hot...

Anyway, it's back together and boots, so I can move on to extracting the
data.

If nothing else, this will serve as a warning to future readers, oh, and a
learning experience for me, as I have another 600E that I intend to use as
a live photo frame- so I need to know how to pull one apart so I can
re-assemble it inside the nice wooden frame I have.
