Yes, I looked at their webpage today. They have a Dell Lassitude D600 for $600 with *No* OS. That's great. To answer Chris's question: about $500 is cheap. I got some suggestions off list too- thanks guys. I'm also thinking of building a silent mini-ITX desktop for Mum instead. A laptop is a nice-to-have but not critical. A
