I know this might just start a flame, but there's no nice way of saying this.
What the
hell is everybody's problem with email in html format? Seriously! I mean if
my emails
are pink and fluffy so what. Do they take any longer to download? Perhaps on
the
slowest of dial up connections.

Since a recent fault on my line, my dial-up has been 28k. My fastest
used to be 48k.
56k modems rarely reach 56k.
How about reading mail on our cell phones? With some casual gprs plans
we pay several cents *per kilobyte*!!

Do they offend your delicate sensibilities? Perhaps... get over it! I mean if
most of
you are using Linux use KMail and kill the damn attachments.

KMail requires an X server. Some people use console based mail clients
eg over an ssh connection. Again, what about mobile data charges on
mobile devices.
Text based mail clients still have their place.

I've really held my tongue about this long enough. Who the hell cares if I use
html
format for email... NOT ME! But just in case you think I am a complete oaf

Not an oaf - just unaccostomed to our culture. Please don't take our
bluntness personally - many geeks suffer from mild aspergers syndrome
and lack the ability to state things delicately.

I have reverted to the dark side and using web mail which is only PLAIN TEXT.
So to
all those who've had a whinge feel free to keep doing so, but I'll fell free to
ignore you.

Welcome to our world :-)

No hard feelings,

Ditto :)
