You need to ask more precisely. For some distros, there is a mirror in NZ, for others there isn't. I assume this is a factor of personal engagement and personal political opinion. However who cares. ISPs in NZ have given you a clear signal: national traffic now costs the same as international. This is as clear as can be and the same as "we couldn't care less whether you download from overseas or locally", so your question sinks below significance. For SUSE there has never been anything in NZ. There are a few mirrors in Oz but they tend to change. There's at least one in Japan. I get higher download speeds from USA. opensuse.org has a mirror list somewhere. As per above reason I just pick the fastest. Afterall ths is the internet where it doesn't matter where you are... For other distros the situation is probably similar, you compile your own mirror list to suit the software you're looking for.
