This should be configurable under /boot/grub/grub.conf. There should be
a (probably commented) line default which you sets the default value. 0
is the first one, 1 the second etc. But be warned: If you make a mistake
your system will not boot and you will need to restore grub with a
bootable CD. There should be a nice graphical tool for that on your
first SUSE CD.

Just to make my question more clear, I am talking about when the
computer starts and you get to the boot menu where you have to manually
choose windows, if you don’t it will automatically load Opensuse.
Yes I know you are all going to say why would you want to? But I have my
reasons J eg family members who use this computer more than me and they
use XP.
A related problem is that this particular machine keeps spontaneously
rebooting itself.
