I agree, that really does make good common sense.

I would also suggest dropping Neil a quick email and asking nicely if you can borrow his power meter to see just how much power the printer is drawing in standby.

You've prompted me to do the same thing with our printers. I like to have a printer going all day so I don't have to wait around for warm up but I'm becoming very aware of the cost to run it.
