Hey all...

Thanks for the feedback and thoughts! :)

There was some really good food for thought there.

I'm not going to respond to most of the points because it would be nothing more than a troll fest. The points were well made.

My motivations are simple.

I'm trying to think of different ways to empower the kids and empower all of us to do more for Linux in OUR community.

This was nothing more and nothing less than another idea.

I'm already empowering kids in our community by doing a weekly lesson.

A bunch of you have team in to do more by giving monitors and other computer hardware over summer.

In the past I found that I frustrated people by not creating enough ways for them to support projects when I had the ability to. I choose not to make that mistake again.

Cheers Don

I did a quick poll of the LES kids today and discovered that almost all of them are saving for some sort of laptop.

Kids can't get finance.

I'm thinking about setting up some sort of 'trust' arrangement where they can borrow the money (with perants permission) to buy a budget laptop off trademe.

What I'm interested to know is how many CLUGer's would like to provide some of the financing.

It would be a loan only and also repaid with interest.

Comments welcomed.

Cheers Don
