Hi guys, Thanks for the suggestions! I agree that learning something compiled would make me a better programmer, and C would have the extra benefit of being able to extend python if necessary! :-) I've read the books mentioned (with the exception of the C one) and you're right, they are great books. I've started playing around with the functional programming aspects of python recently and I would like to learn something else... Unfortunately all of my (tight) coding time is spent on python/js/django at the moment... maybe when I've finished this project I can have a go!! --Hopefully-- Cheers, Ben
