I buy the cheapest I can get, and cane them on linux/K3B. You know what, none have failed, and I really didn't expect that. Must've used 50 in the last 12 months, zero failures even in my old shuttle box, which is toasty warm all the time. Haven't read any reports, good or bad, but they do come with black, white *and* silver fronts to them. I still use IDE ones though, as the SATA versions can be difficult to install from. I can get Sonys 50 cents cheaper, but only in 15+ order quantities and they're not DVD-RAM, and who wants to support Sony anyway!
