Hopefully this is a frank discussion on issues with the two systems not a vm distro war. I'm a heavy user of vmware server, but certainly agree that it is not without issues!

Never had that sort of trouble, but there are some "issues" with vmware networks: - When using bridging to the host's network, I've had issues with connecting to a samba share on the host - it is extremely (unusably) slow. The only way to get good performance is to also have a host only network. - For some reason when starting up the vmware service seems to start "auto start" vms before setting up the networks. I have to manually reset the network on my virtual firewall every time I restart. - Disabling the vmware dhcp is a bit of a mission on a linux host (there's a nice gui for windows hosts.) i know there were some others that have caused me grief over time too.
