which is why I quoted the model number.

I am using the earlier one with out any problem, but the later one
XH8290  would not work despite changes of modem usb ports etc, although
the lsusb output showed the connector as being mounted.

As I did this in the back of the shop with the Manager, I didn't record
the output at the time, and due to my ignorance of tux, don't know where
in the logs to look for that information.

If you could point me to the appropriate log I would be grateful.

How ever the one from Dragon PC  just plug and play.
