There was some sort of a 'http.. export...' command in my users .bashrc. I
deleted it to remove the proxy settings. I suspect I put it there myself
some time ago and forgot it was there. I can't remember the details but if
you google around you will find it. Let me know if you still cant find it &
I will track down a backup copy of what I had before.
