Dude,

  1) Unplug the power board
  2) Make sure it's unplugged
  3) Cut its plug off
  4) Deal with the pieces (if you're short of ideas, no doubt this list
  could help out)

then trot to Bunnings and get some HPM stuff for $2.93. Don't waste your
time (again) on the $1.97 ones.

lol - reminds me of the time i picked up a 3 pack of power boards from there, was like $8 or something, couldn't believe what a deal that must be - woohoo! got home, tried first one, didn't go, threw it out, one worked on all 4 outlets, the third works on 3, though one of those can be a bit dodgy depending on orientation of board/cable. definitely got what i paid for that day . . .
