I am upgrading my kernel from 2.4.something to 2.5.5 and make bzImage is failing. My suspicion is that the version of e2fsprogs (1.26, rebuilt from a source rpm) is hoarking the build. Specifically, make bzImage blows chunks as soon as it begins to process the LVM portion of the kernel source. I'm not sure if the problem is isolated to the specific source rpm I'm using or if it's R1.26 of e2fsprogs. I've done this a thousand times and I'm surprised this build is erroring out...
Question: Has anyone on the list seen this version of e2fsprogs not perform as advertised? Also, I have upgraded all of the system utilities and programs as specified by the changelog and the readme in the 2.5.5 kernel source.
