I'd like to specify a hostname that eth0 should pass to the dhcp server in use when it is brought up. I could always manually edit it into the ifup script, but I'm wondering if I can specify this hostname in the ifcfg-eth0 file.
I'm well aware of the hostname field that exists in the /etc/sysconfig/network file, but I don't want this hostname to be applied system-wide, only to that specific nic when it is brought out. I've done a google search to see if this would work, but I didn't find any good results with it. Does anyone know if this idea of mine will work, and if so what I should call that field?
