On May 11 Bill Campbell was heard saying: <snip>
->>*** ... because if it was not for the exagerated hard- & software prices I ->>would be probably owning one... -> ->IHMO the current Apple hardware prices aren't all that much more than ->purchasing good quality Intel hardware (not the crap that's pushed over the *** True, except for the parts market which in France (Paris, ave. Daumesnil and rue Montgallet in case you come on holidays here ;-) is in the hands of the Asians who manage to sell the same hardware for twice as cheap than anywhere else... Then there is the second hand market here where Apple hardware has the name of being exclusive and which means the shops are asking whatever the fool wants to pay for it, read ridiculous prices. Then there is the question of the software. It is difficult to borough prog's as they are not easily pirated, one of the reasons of MS's popularity. Furthermore, without being sure but I have the impression the life span of Apple's software is much bigger than Microsoft's, so there is not that many on the second hand market. While I am jealous of Apple's hardware, design and OS, I took the PC turn way before I was aware that there were options to Microsoft an today I have invested too much in i386 architecture and Linux to change. Still, I hope to stumble upon an offer on iMac which will allow me to buy it just for fun. The prices are too high in France for the time being. Cheers, Zoran. -- If you find me, please return me to my $HOME: my address is 'cd'. _______________________________________________ Linux-users mailing list - http://linux-sxs.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-users Subscribe/Unsubscribe info, Archives, and Digests are located at the above URL.
