I take a different approach.  All of the problems are SuSE's (or fill
in the blanks for another distro) fault!  You don't release a set of
packages without trying all the pieces.  I remember back in Caldera
days when I suggested that Caldera could have done a better job of
testing before release (I believe it was a rogue and largely unusable
version of Netscape that provoked my ire), I was severely beat about
the head and shoulders by this group for my stance, but that is still
my opinion.

BTW, CUPS is a perfectly good example of not testing.  They released a
few versions that were broken (they screwed up the use of Ghostscript)
before they realized what they were doing (inadequate testing), but
now they have found the "sweet spot" again.  The CUPS delivered on
rh7.3 is quite usable, whether or not I prefer it.
