I felt bad that it was never sorted out. But at that time gphoto2 was just
getting stable. Have you tried it along with digikam (on Sourceforge)? I do
admit that I find the card reader to be easier in many cases. Especially
since my camera cannot be pluged in to get power. So, on-line use is limited
by battery charge.
