OK, just downloaded the Caldera eWorkstation 3.1 ISO image, and I'm
at a crossroads.

Just a few weeks ago I installed Caldera eDesktop 2.4 on a Thinkpad,
since it was the latest release back then. But not without some hair-
pulling - some may recall my install Q's on the Caldera list at the
time. Big part of my problem was getting XF86/lizard to work. (Had
to install with Lisa)

This is an older Thinkpad (760XD), and I'm wondering what opinions
people have about whether I'm likely to have more or less problems
with XF86 v4.x or any of the other new stuff (ie 2.4x kernel) that
come with eW 3.1. If the newer version is likely to be less
compatible/tested on an older laptop, I may just not open that can of
worms and stick with what works for now.

I'm not even sure if saving my XF86 config file will do me much good
since AFAIK the format of the file changed in 4.x

I presume it is still a rather mystical process to do an "upgrade"
from an earlier release. (ie eD 2.4 --> eW 3.1)

Ideas appreciated,

Phil

PS: if there's an issue with how it installs from bootable CD vs
floppy, bear in mind this model can't boot directly from a CD.
