grep var/log/messages and find references to sound-slot and sound-service(s)
place the following (or similar) in /etc/modules.conf
alias sound-slot-0 sb
Here, it is an 'sb' card, and the 'complaint' from /var/log/messages was
sound-slot-0, your mileage will be different.
