Please point me to a discussion of how to fix this kind of problem.
I am using Dual boot using loadlin from W98 to COL2.3.
I upgraded hardware to K7-900 which is not supported on COL 2.3 so I loaded
the kernel from eDesktop 2.4 (vmlinuz) to get access to the system. I got
the system booted and can access the harddisk and can run kde but cannot
figure out this device number stuff. I tired using mknod without success.
There must be some other config files which conflict.
The output from ls /dev/fd0 -l is something like this with the same 2 0
major and minor device numbers.
brw-rw-rw- 1 geoffs floppy 2, 0 Apr 14 04:06 /dev/fd0
which looks ok to me but does not work---gives wrong Major minor device
number error.
