Okay, so now I have cable access -- it's a beautiful thing after dial-up purgatory -- with a static IP. Theoretically, even though it isn't permitted, I can run server services. The installer set up one of my Windows boxes and gave it this truly byzantine hostname but it seems to me that I should be able to assign that static IP to a Linux box and then update DNS through my domain registrar.
That is, I'm proposing using my own host name and their IP address. Can I do that? Kurt -- Everywhere I look I see NEGATIVITY and ASPHALT ... _______________________________________________ Linux-users mailing list Archives, Digests, etc at http://linux.nf/mailman/listinfo/linux-users
