I have had problems with Suse and ext3. I cannot help with yours but do you 
know how to reformat from ext2 to ext3, tried tune2fs -j, with no sucess. It 
has to be ext2 in fstab or I cannot see the partition. It was installed as 
ext3 but fiddling has somehow altered it.
