Still thinking more about this gift.

It costs MS about 50 cents to make a cd. So, XP + Office as donations
will give MS about $500 dollars in tax write offs for one dollar in
actual cost. Meanwhile, somebody else will have to cough up $1000 to
buy a computer and run the network wiring in the school.

So, MS makes a very handsome profit on this donation, while getting others
to spend many millions, with the end result that MS owns the African
software market.  Even if not a single computer is ever installed in any
school, they can still get the tax write off for each "donation." Even
if all the software they donate is just stolen for private use, they'll
still get the tax write off, which is more than they are getting now.

Does anyone still wonder why MS is making LOTS of money while other hi tech
companies are struggling?
