No, normal Mint releases are about a month behind Ubuntu releases. The 
latest release, which I have just installed on a 64 bit laptop, does not 
use Unity but sticks with Gnome.
Multimedia is included too.

I use the LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition) on my main PC - it is a 
rolling release based on Debian testing with all of the LinuxMint 
niceties. The only manual thing I had to do after the initial 
installation was to install NVidia drivers.
Some packages are a bit behind Ubuntu but not far.
