Hi,
a simple question - what is the "best" mail client?

It should support multiple accounts - this one is totally reasonable...

It should support imap - with this requirement, one can access their
mail from any computer, provided that
the mail server is accessible.

Automatic filing of all outgoing, and incoming mail should be possible.
Thus, I can have a folder for every person
that I have communicated with - where each folder contains the
sent/received messages.

Evolution had a nice feature, where it provides "virtual" folders, which
are actually a reference to any message
that matches some criteria. Thus, I could set up a folder called (for
example) Nick, which contains all messages sent
to Nick, and all messages received from Nick. Should there be a message
sent to Nick and Rik, then the message would be
found in Nick's folder, and also found in Rik's folder..

If one was to create (say) 200 virtual folders, it would be nice to
have the some folder tree to keep all the
folders "organised". The Evolution version I tried did not appear to
support a tree of virtual folders.

I have used alpine for years, and found (once set up) that it worked
well. However, the world has gone graphical,
and it is nice to see pictures etc in emails. - maybe - is there a
graphical version of alpine?

Sadly, the linux community has an over supply of half finished email
clients, and a limited supply of really good clients.

Comment anyone?
tia,
  Derek.
