but based on their past
performance and reputation, being forced to choose, I'd buy nvidia
instead of running the risk and spending time on some ati stuff.
I hear you on this, while I say I have never had issues with fglrx
drivers I also said its not an out of the box experience. nVidia is
always just plug and play, but unfortunately nvidia isn't making any
good integrated chips.
So I guess I should add a third recommendation...
Nvidia Discrete graphics card
Intel/AMD CPU/Mobo whatever floats your boat.
If I were building an nvidia desktop today my shopping list would be
something like
CPU
AMD FX4300 Quad Core 8MB 3.8GHz AM3+ 95W
or
Intel Core i3 3220 3.30GHz 3MB LGA1155 65W - HD GRAPHICS
Graphics
Gaming - Gigabyte GV-N650OC-1GI GTX650 1GB PCIE
What is games? - Gigabyte GV-N610SL-1GI GT610 1GB PCIE
Motherboard
Something around the $90-120 mark depending on which features you want.
