Hi,
I have some experience with the recruitment agencies.

They are better described as "jobs R us" firms.
Many of these firms claim to have IT experience/skills etc. Ignore those claims.
The jobs r us firms are effectively "pattern matching firms".
The strings found in the employers job description is compared with the
strings in your CV.

Further, they are under significant time constraints or something, and cannot
be relied upon to read past page 1 of your CV.

Thus, page 1 of your CV should contain a summary of your skills that match the
the strings used in the employers requirements.

Don't put your address and contact details on page 1. New Zealand jobs r us
firms only contact you if you have made it to the next level - and if they
like you they will have read the rest of your CV (which means they will find your
contact details).

Obligatory linux content before the list police shoot me down in flames:
It is harder (my view) to find work in Christchurch if your skills and experience
is only in LInux.

Cheers,
 Derek.

Indeed.

I've been using them on and off for the best part of 30 years. Back in
the UK, I whittled them down a chosen few... but these are just so much
worse.

Finding a good one is as hard as finding a grammatically correct news
item on stuff wot's also spelt proper.

Steve.
