Note that there was a discussion on the list a little while back about
streaming from multiple video cameras. You can see the thread here:

http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg00255.html

As a short summary, I've had success streaming from 8 QC fusions on a
single system, 640x480x15fps in MJPG format. There is some jitter around
the 15fps mark, but only streaming from 2 cameras should certainly be no
less successful. I put 4 cameras each on two USB 2 hubs (with no USB 1
devices present).

There are always a bandwith limit when asking video stream over usb pci
agp
ide ... bus :) that is why a mjpeg hardware compressor in the webcam help,
but you loss some picture details. Setting a usb HCD per webcam give
better
performance (a PCI to USB add on card is not very expensive) and allow
maximum frame rate on each webcam. Becare to remove all others usb device
set
on the same usb bus, specially the low one (mouse keyboard...).
luvcview record the mjpeg stream in an avi container if needed, you can
used
ffmpeg or transcode to change the video codec, I used xvid or h264 with
very
good compression performance :)
